Major Retailer Strengthens Goods-in-Transit Security with Innovative Testing Approach
This week, we spoke with one of the UK’s leading retailers — a global player moving millions of pounds’ worth of products every week — about how they are using our encoder sealing unit to safeguard their goods in transit.
The retailer explained how our technology forms an integral part of their security protocols, creating a unique, tamper-evident seal for each shipment. This allows for instant detection if a seal is opened, altered, or recorded incorrectly.
But technology alone isn’t enough. Where human involvement exists, there’s always the possibility of error — and, in rare cases, intentional wrongdoing. To address this, the retailer has adopted a rigorous “red team” approach to continually test their system.
Twice a week, at every depot, they deliberately enter incorrect seal information into the system to see how quickly it’s detected. These unannounced drills ensure that both the technology and the team are operating at peak performance, ready to identify and address any issues immediately.
“We don’t just trust our goods are secure — we prove it,” a company representative said. “Testing ourselves keeps our supply chain safe.”
This proactive method ensures that the retailer’s operations remain resilient, their goods remain secure, and their commitment to excellence continues to set them apart in the global retail market.
