SECURESEAL® CONTRACT TO PROTECT BP RETAIL GOODS IN TRANSIT

SecureSeal has supplied its tamper-evident trailer seals to protect goods being delivered to 365 BP retail outlets under a contract with supply chain management company Exel. SecureSeal® is a permanent reusable seal with a unique random security number generator that is designed to record unauthorised door openings. Appointed by BP Retail, Exel manage the 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week distribution of chilled and ambient goods to BP forecourts in the UK.

Exel has established a dedicated national distribution centre at Magna Park near Lutterworth to provide warehouse and distribution management services for BP. SecureSeal® has been fitted to the Exel-operated rigids and articulated trailers. Trailer doors are only opened under supervision with randomly-generated seal numbers recorded at each location.

Protection of goods in transit is crucial to BP Retail as its forecourt stores are replenished with fresh food every day. Guaranteeing supplies to stores is crucial and SecureSeal® is part of a whole series of systems that protect that supply.

BP Retail wanted a secure system that would not be dependent on the driver, and the system using SecureSeal® is very easy to use and works very well. These mechanical seals are also very robust and since they do not rely on batteries, they are expected to last the lifetime of a vehicle." said Lee Silvester, Exel's Transport Manager.
